Machine Vision Camera & Illumination
Types of Light Sources
Incandescent Lamps: 3000 ~ 3400K
Xenon Lamps: 5500 ~ 12000K
Fluorescent Lamps: 3000 ~ 6000K
LED: Primary choice of illumination, inexpensive, long-term, flash light, different colors
Using Polarity of Light
Using polarized light and having an additional analyzer (polarization filter) in front of camera can reduce specular reflections
Directional Properties
Diffuse Light: Light in all directions
Directed Light: Light in a narrow beam
Telecentric Light: Beam of only parallel rays
Front Light: Illumination on same side as camera
Back Light: Illumination on opposite side of camera
Bright Field: Most of the light is reflected into camera
Dark Field: Most of the light is away from camera
